What activities to do in the eastern Yungas?

Guided excursions at La Fé

What are the treks like in the Yungas?

The treks offer various routes along the native forest trails of the Yungas. You walk on mountain terrain with moderate elevation changes, stream crossings and dense vegetation. Routes are suitable for people in good physical condition and children. Not recommended for people with reduced mobility.

Who are these excursions for?

Trekking routes are accessible to everyone, including children. The guide adapts to the pace of the whole family. Horseback rides are accessible to children from 10 years old. The “Río Colorado” ride is suitable for beginners. All excursions are accessible to anyone in normal physical condition.

Can you spot birds during the excursions?

Yes. The Yungas are home to more than 400 bird species, including toucans, condors and parrots. During treks and rides, the guide points out birds and helps you identify them. The finca is also regularly visited by capuchin monkeys. For specialised birdwatching, we can organise dawn outings with a guide — contact us via WhatsApp.

Are the excursions guided?

Yes, all excursions are led by a local guide who knows the trails, flora and fauna of the jungle, except for the self-guided walk along the marked paths. Horseback rides are led by a gaucho from the finca. All outings are in small groups, exclusive to ecolodge guests.

What should I wear for a trek in the Yungas?

Loose long trousers, long sleeves, a hat or cap (very important at altitude), closed shoes with good soles, a lightweight waterproof jacket, and insect repellent. Avoid shorts, sleeveless tops and sandals. In winter, bring a fleece for cool evenings.

What is the best time to visit the Yungas?

The Yungas can be visited all year round. In summer, the jungle offers a spectacle of dense, lush vegetation. In winter, the climate is milder, the paths are more passable and it is easier to spot wildlife.

Do you offer excursions to Las Termas Río Jordán?

We are 3 hours by road from the starting point of the Río Jordán trek, located in San Francisco in the Yungas Corridor. Local guides lead the route there. We recommend going before or after your stay at La Fe.
